'Rohit needs to be shown this stat': Sanjay Manjrekar questions India skipper's tactical decision

NEW DELHI: Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar expressed his concerns about the tactical decisions made by captain Rohit Sharma during the first day of the second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur on Friday.
Manjrekar specifically questioned Rohit’s choice not to employ the left-arm spin of Ravindra Jadeja when facing left-handed batsmen from the opposing team.
The rain-marred day saw a mere 35 overs of action.Having won the toss, India opted to field first. The visiting team managed to score 107 runs, losing three wickets in the process. Mominul Haque remained undefeated on 40 runs.
Manjrekar, reflecting on India’s bowling strategy, pointed out what he believed to be a missed opportunity. To support his observation, he turned to the social media platform ‘X’, where he shared an intriguing statistic.

“Rohit needs to be shown this stat- JADEJA vs COOK, 2016 series: In 8 innings, got him out 6 times, conceded just 75 runs. Rohit tends to not bowl Jadeja early when there are left handers out there,” he posted on X.
The second day of the match on Saturday called off without a ball being bowled due to persistent downpour. The drizzle in the morning turned into heavy rain, not letting the action begin on day two at Green Park Stadium.
The ground crew began using three super soppers around 11:15 a.m. after the rain subsided, but visibility remained poor.
Despite their efforts, conditions failed to improve, leading to the official cancellation of the second day’s play at 2:15 p.m.
According to the weather forecast, more rain is expected on Sunday, while Monday and Tuesday are predicted to be sunny and warm. Given these conditions, the match appears to be heading toward a draw.
